Upon review by Dr Marchant, it may be necessary for you to undergo surgery. Dr Marchant will speak with each patient individually to discuss their options and once a decision has been made, the practice staff will organise your surgery. Dr Marchant’s staff will take care of all your admission details and will notify you of these arrangements. You will be provided with an admission pack which contains information for the relevant hospital, what to do and who to contact prior to surgery, as well as some paperwork to complete (this can also be done online).
It is important to advise Dr Marchant of any medications that you are currently on, as some medications can alter the way the blood clots (aspirin, warfarin, clopidegrel) and may have to be stopped before your operation. If you are required to cease any of your medication prior to surgery, other alternative medications may need to be prescribed. If you are unsure of the medications you are taking and how they will affect your surgery please contact Dr Marchant’s rooms. Only cease your medications under the direction of Dr Marchant, his anaesthetist or a medical professional.
In the 2 weeks prior to surgery take care to avoid scratches or wounds in the area of surgery. These wounds or active infections elsewhere in the body may result in the postponement of your surgery, after consultation with Dr Marchant.
Estimate of Fees
It is a practice of Dr Marchant’s clinic that all patients are provided with an Estimate of Fees prior to their surgery date whenever possible. It is sometimes however not possible, due to an emergency situation or a weekend procedure to be able to provide this prior to the surgery, however following such surgery any questions can be directed to Dr Marchant’s rooms.
This Estimate of Fees details the fees payable to Dr Marchant’s rooms for his services and does not include other costs such as anaesthetists, theatre fees or radiologists. Dr Marchant’s rooms will provide information which details who can be contacted regarding the costs associated with the specific anaesthetist for your surgery and any additional information that you may require.
Please note that this is only an Estimate of Dr Marchant’s fees and can in some cases change if unforeseen circumstances occur during surgery.
If at any stage during this process, you require additional information or support please do not hesitate to contact Dr Marchant’s rooms on 07 3834 6272.
